20 Minutes Till Dawn: How to Heal

The first opportunities to heal come in the form of upgrades, with the Health tree and the Pyro tree containing unlocks that can be used to restore health. In both of these instances, the healing skills are found at the bottom of the tree, which means that roguelite fans will need to pass through a couple upgrades before they can access them. For full clarity, the upgrade in the Health tree is called Regeneration and restores one HP every 90 seconds, while the upgrade in the Pyro tree is called Soothing Warmth and has a 0.05% chance to restore one HP when an enemy is ignited.

Notably, there are some upgrades in 20 Minutes Till Dawn that can extend longevity, though they do not technically provide healing. Two of those unlocks, Vitality and Giant, grant additional HP and can be found in the Health tree. And then there is Holy Shield, which has its own tree, prevents one damage every two minutes by default, and can have its cooldown reduced by taking the Stalwart Shield upgrade at the bottom of the tree.

20 Minutes Till Dawn players can also gain opportunities for healing through Runes, which are purchased by clicking on “Runes” in the top-right corner of the character select screen. Specifically, the Healing, Growth, and Second Wind Runes in the Shield section can be used to restore HP, and here are details on each of them:

Healing: Every 1500th enemy killed will drop an item that heals for 1 HP. Reduce the threshold of enemy kills needed by 100 per rank. Growth: Heal 1 HP every 5th level. Gain 4% more XP per rank. Second Wind: When HP drops to 1, instantly heal 3 HP. Activates once per game.

As is the case with upgrades, there are some Runes that increase survivability despite the fact that they do not provide direct healing. These Runes are also found within the Shield section, and they grant invincibility and shields in certain situations. While those effects may not be quite as desirable as HP regeneration, players that are having trouble keeping their 20 Minutes Till Dawn characters alive should not overlook them.

20 Minutes Till Dawn is in Early Access on PC.
